Yahagi Industries Co., Ltd

An automotive body prototype manufacturing company.
Together with Toyota’s history, we continue to create cars of the future.

Achievements Since Founding

Yahagi Industries was founded in 1947. The company expanded through sales of endplates, and with the advent of motorization in the mid 1950s, to 60s we shifted our focus to manufacturing. We were involved in the painting and polishing of the Toyota Publica, Japan's first Japan's first mass-market car, released in 1961, and from 1965 we commenced doing business directly with Toyota Motor Company (currently Toyota Motor Corporation). In 1969, the idea of prototype sheet metal was discussed, and our history of body prototyping began.

The job of prototyping, which turns a single design drawing into a reality, involves carefully considering the intent of the design, designing each part, and planning and practicing the design and assembly of each component. It is filled with difficulties and joys that cannot be found in mass production. By the time a new car is announced, we are already in the process of prototyping the next model. We continue to look ahead to support the cars of the future.

Yahagi Industries Auto Body Prototyping History,
as Seen in the History of Toyota Cars

Since the start of our prototyping business, we have been prototyping most of the underbodies of Toyota vehicles. Basically, the history of Toyota cars reflects the history of Yahagi Industries prototypes. Even a single, seemingly simple component is a collection of craftsmen's experience and wisdom, and a new car is created by the hands of countless people. We would like to introduce some of these famous cars.
